FASHIONISTAS Elle Macpherson, Stella McCartney and Helen Mirren have joined a charity's campaign to keep older people warm this winter.
Age UK Barnet is collecting unwanted winter coats as part of its Spread the Warmth campaign which aims to make winter warmer for 360,000 older people.
The charity says more than 200 elderly people die every day in winter due to the effects of cold weather. But by selling disused coats at its Age UK stores, the charity aims to raise enough cash to provide information and services such as nutritious meals and heating to prevent these deaths.
Age UK shops are situated in Western Parade in New Barnet and in Vivian Avenue, Hendon.
Coats can also be dropped off at The Meritage Centre in Church End, Hendon, and The Ann Owens Centre in Oak Lane, East Finchley. For more information about the charity visit: http://www.ageuk.org.uk/barnet/
