A £4.5 billion regeneration scheme is back on track after being given the go-ahead for the second time this evening by Barnet councillors.
The huge plans for the Brent Cross Cricklewood scheme, which include rebuilding schools, a new train station, revamping a large green space and putting in a new town centre, were reaffirmed.
Although passed last November at an unprecedented two-day planning committee, the plans needed to be reaffirmed after being held up by the Mayor of London and the Government's London Office for more than six months.
Despite spirited opposition from the Coalition for a Sustainable Brent Cross Cricklewood, all but Lib Dem councillor Jack Cohen, who represents the area affected, agreed to pass the plans.
A full report will be available tomorrow.
