PEOPLE are being asked for their thoughts in the final round of consultation for a scheme to plant around 100 extra trees along the Edgware Road.
Contractors have already undertaken excavation works along the street to find out where the trees could be planted so as not to disturb gas pipes and mains electricity.
The planned plantings of Dawn Redwoods will happen on both sides of the street between Hendon and Edgware, with cash for the scheme being provided by the Mayor of London's office.
The new consultation opened today for eight days in Burnt Oak Library, Watling Avenue, with a display and more information about the plans, with Barnet Council's tree expert on hand next Tuesday to answer questions.
Councillor Daniel Thomas, who is in charge of the environment in Barnet, said: “Residents of this borough are already fortunate to live in a very green borough, which is around a third open land.
“Plans like this are really encouraging because it brings that greenery to otherwise very urban parts of Barnet.
"Lining a road as busy as the Edgware Road with close to 100 trees will make a real difference to the quality of the shopping, walking and driving experience of users of the street." Planting is due to start later in February.
