An urgent appeal has been launched to find a woman who went missing after a plane crash while skydiving in Mexico.
Varsha Maisuria, who is reportedly from Hendon, went missing after she was left dangling from the plane before it crashed into the sea in Puerto Vallarta on Thursday.
The 42-year-old Foreign Office worker, also known as Millie, was on holiday in the Bay of Banderas off the coast of Las Glorias beach when the crash happened.
According to reports on missingabroad.org, she joined a group of people, including the pilot, two men and two women, on a tandem sky diving trip.
The pilot and the two men survived but Varsha and the other women are still missing.
A Facebook group dedicating to finding her has been set up and says she was involved in the crash while on holiday on May 7, at around 3.40pm.
Her family are now desperately campaigning for the Mexican authorities to keep searching for her, but the plane is so deep underwater searchers do not have the equipment to find it.
In a statement on Facebook, her sister, Amit, wrote: “We are desperately campaigning for the Mexican authorities to keep searching for my sister.
“We are so grateful for the amount of support we have had from people across the world.
“Please continue to help us find my sister however you can - whether it's sharing messages via social media channels or speaking to people that may be able to raise awareness, or pray that we find her.”
In a statement, the Foreign Office said: “We can confirm that Varsha Maisuria, a British national employed by the Foreign Office, was reported missing in Mexico on May 7.
“We are in regular contact with the family and are providing them with consular support at this difficult time. We are also liaising with local authorities in Mexico.”
