A new primary free school has moved a step closer to opening after receiving further government approval.
The Bellevue Place Education Trust plans to open Watling Park School in Pavillion Way, Burnt Oak in September.
The Secretary of State for Education, Nicky Morgan, has agreed to enter into a funding agreement with the trust for the school, which will initially cater for two reception classes.
Places have been offered for its first pupils, who will be taught in temporary accommodation while the rest of the site is redeveloped to provide a permanent home for the school.
Claire Delaney, chairman of Bellevue Place Education Trust, said the trust was “thrilled” at the news, which is one of the final stages in the process of opening a free school.
She said: “It is a clear sign that the Department for Education is happy that we are in a strong position to deliver a high-quality education to the children of the local community.
“The school will be governed by the community, for the community and the school’s facilities will be available for use by the local community after school, at weekends and during the holidays. We look forward to sharing the exciting plans for the Pavilion Way site shortly”.
