The Barnet Green Party has announced its candidate for the Hampstead Garden Suburb council by-election.
Adele Ward, who is also standing as the Green parliamentary candidate for Finchley and Golders Green, will contest the seat on May 7.
Ms Ward, a writer and publisher who lives in Golders Green, said she was “delighted” to stand, and would campaign on education, transport and introducing better regulation of landlords.
She added: “It’s a very important by-election. The people of Hampstead Garden Suburb have a responsibility to decide whether they want to make a change in Barnet.”
The by-election has been triggered by the resignation of Conservative councillor Danny Seal, which left the Tories without a majority on Barnet Borough Council.
Rohit Grover has been selected as the Conservative candidate for Hampstead Garden Suburb, which is currently represented by Conservative councillors Gabriel Rozenberg and John Marshall.
Other parties are expected to announce their candidates in the next few days.
