Teenagers who launched their own business inspired by all things sweet have made it to the finals of a Young Enterprise competition.
Pupils from Queen Elizabeth Girls School, in High Street, Barnet, clubbed together to come up with quirky bath and shower products and named their line ‘Purity’.
The contest sees schools from all across England create new businesses from scratch, create products and services and raising capital before selling their inventions at trade fairs.
They were crowed Best Overall Company and won Best Stand by judges at a ceremony last month, and will now progress through to the London finals.
Team member Hannah Hutchings, 14, of Bosworth Road, said: “We wanted our brand to reflect the fact that we only sell natural products, using no harmful ingredients.
“We’re so incredibly excited to have made it this far.
"It was a bit of a shock, really. It’s given us a taste of the business world, which is stressful at times, but really interesting.”
The girls have credited their business advisors, Mia Galea and Nick Wealthall, for their success.
Their sweet-shopped themed bath products are presented in large, old-fashioned sweet jars.
Chloe Mackley, 14, of Byng Road, High Barnet, said: “We’ve worked really hard and it took lot of time and effort for us to get this far.
“I’m proud of myself and my teammates. It’s been very fast paced and you learn things you wouldn’t usually learn at school.
“It’s been hard to work around problems we’ve faced, but I’ve enjoyed it.”
