Tins of fruit and vegetables exploded across a motorway as firefighters battled a large lorry fire on the M25.
Crews from Potters Bar, Borehamwood and Garston were called to reports of a lorry fire between Junctions 22 and 21a on the anti-clockwise side of the M25 last week.
The lorry was carrying a large quantity of cooking oil and tins of fruit and vegetables, which were exploding across both lanes of the motorway due to the intense fire.
Fortunately the driver did not suffer any injuries and no other vehicle was involved.
Firefighters stayed at the scene for more than three hours and assisted the Highways Agency.
The fire was believed to have been caused by an electrical fault in the lorry’s engine.
