New trees will be planted across Barnet to help make the area greener.
Work has already begun to plant trees in Station Road, Edgware, and more are to be planted in Brent Street, Hendon, East Barnet Road, in New Barnet and Golders Green Road.
The £150,000 project is funded by the council’s priority fund, and will include planting of Chinese privet, double white flowering cherry and birch trees.
Councillor Dean Cohen, Barnet Council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “Planting trees has always been a priority for the council and Barnet residents. With this project, we wanted to continue to improve the air quality and appearance of our town centres.
“We try to plant trees in urban areas where we can and this is becoming increasingly difficult because of underground services – but I am happy to see such a large scale project get underway.”
