Young Barnet cricketers might be among those who bring home the Ashes after retired England international Andrew Flintoff launches a sport academy in Barnet.
Teenagers at Barnet and Southgate College will be able to sign up to the Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy (AFCA) from September 2014.
The 16 to 18 year olds will learn how to hone their skills for a future career in the game as a professional cricketer, umpire or groundsman, receiving weekly coaching and training sessions from AFCA coaches as well as a session from Flintoff himself.
Mr Flintoff said: “The programme will allow young players to improve their cricket but also allow them to become more employable within the sports industry. As always, I want the students to learn while having fun and I’m sure this programme will do this.”
Students will also represent the college in cricket competitions and events.
