The MP for Chipping Barnet and Barnet’s London Assembly Member will speak out against plans to build a waste plant in the borough.
Theresa Villiers and Andrew Dismore will be joined by councillors to discuss the proposals at a meeting at 7.45pm on Thursday, November 22 at St John’s Parish Centre in Friern Barnet Road.
The proposals to build the plant on the Barnet and Enfield border have been heavily contested and campaign group, Pinkham Way Alliance, is determined to put an end to the plans.
Campaigners are concerned the waste plant will cause disruption to traffic and be detrimental to residents living near the six hectare site.
Ms Villiers said: "The rejection of the North London Waste Plan is only a temporary reprieve for residents affected by this damaging proposal.
"The campaign continues, ably led by the Pinkham Way Alliance, focusing on a range of concerns including the deterioration in air quality that would be generated by lorry journeys from the plant."
At the meeting Stephen Brice and Jeffery Lever, members of Pinkham Way Alliance, will also explain their research on mechanical and biological treatment plants around the country and the impact they have on their surroundings.
